Rain Bird Inline Pressure Regulator
What is an inline pressure regulator? As the name implies, a pressure regulator regulates the pressure in your irrigation system. Proper plumbing of any kind operates best under controlled pressure conditions (since your system is always under pressure). An inline pressure regulator fits right into the valve assembly (where your water enters an irrigation line) so that your entire line has a consistent pressure.
Why the Rain Bird inline pressure regulator? Rain Bird is this country's most trusted brand in irrigation equipment. This is a professional-grade pressure regulator (unlike ones you might find at Home Depot) and is built to deliver consistent pressure for above-ground and underground installations. It comes with Rain Bird's standard 3-year Trade Warranty, too.
Important specifications for Model # PSI-M30X-075:
- Flow: 2.0 to 10.0 gpm; 120 to 600 gph (7.8 to 37.9 l/m)
- Inlet Pressure: 10-150 psi (0.7 to 10.3 bar)
Why do I need one? Well, to be honest, there is more than one way to achieve pressure regulation in your irrigation system. If all of your irrigation is at roughly the same elevation (no steep slopes or terraces) and you use roughly all the same irrigation equipment, you can instead choose to install a single pressure regulator on your house's main line, after it splits off to your landscape.
The reality is that you are likely retrofitting an existing irrigation system to use less water, and you already have valves, some of which might require more pressure than others, and inline pressure regulators are a cost effective way to get one valve at a time under control.
